“We are a special school in West Northumberland for pupils aged from 2 to 19 years with severe, profound and multiple learning disabilities including Autism.
The school is part of the northern hub of the Eden Academy Trust, a family of special schools who work together under one Multi Academy Trust.
I know that choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you make. Hexham Priory School is a vibrant, caring and purposeful environment in which all our pupils thrive. Staff and pupils are proud of our school, and work together to provide a friendly and caring environment in which pupils feel valued and secure.
At Hexham Priory School we provide a welcoming, supportive environment for pupils and staff, where good communications with the pupils, their guardians, visitors and the wider community of professions are fostered.
Our expert staff and facilities are designed to meet the individual needs of our pupils, in a bespoke way, ensuring that all our children and young people achieve their very best. Our staff work together with parents, carers and others to make sure the curriculum is personalised to maximise each pupil’s potential.
Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Health professions all work with Teachers and Teaching Assistants to support pupils’ individual development.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website to find out more about the school, I hope it provides you with all of the information you need. If not please feel free to contact us with questions or to arrange a visit. You would be most welcome.”

Daft as a Brush
Charity no. 328432

daft as a brush

Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care specialise in transporting cancer patients to and from hospital for their chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy treatment, free of charge.
The service involves collecting and transporting patients in a safe and comfortable environment from where they are living to where they will be having their treatment. If required, a volunteer companion will stay with the patient during their chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy.
The patient is returned to their home in readiness for their next course of treatment. The charity completes thousands of cancer patient journeys each year with a passionate team of hundreds of volunteers and a large fleet of ambulances. All donations received go directly to supporting cancer patients on their journey to recovery with Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care.
“Hello! My name is Brian Burnie, Founder and Trustee of Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care which transports cancer patients, free of charge, who need to attend hospital on a daily basis to receive their cancer treatment at Freeman Hospital.
In 2010 when I first had the idea of creating the cancer patient transport service, I never ever in my wildest dreams thought that it would be so successful and it is down to the passion and dedication of some 400 volunteers and staff that we have on board that makes the service a reality.
At present the charity carries out 80,000 cancer patient journeys a year, and it is hoped that in the not too distant future, my dream of providing 1,000,000 will be realised”
